Rosemary Giarrante, 80, 'Will Be Dearly Missed By Her Devoted Family'

Visitation for Rosemary Giarrante, former First Lady of Joliet, will be at Farkas Funeral Home, 3201 West Jefferson Street in Joliet.

JOLIET, IL — Rosemary Giarrante, the former First Lady of Joliet and wife of former Joliet Mayor Tom Giarrante, has died at age 80. The funeral arrangements are being handled by the Farkas Funeral Home at the corner Essington Road and West Jefferson Street.

"In her spare time, besides being there for her family, she volunteered for the JCHS Mothers’ Club, Jubilation and was an active parishioner at St. Patrick’s Church and School," her obituary noted. "She was a member of the Joliet Firefighters’ Wives Association and graciously served as the First Lady of Joliet from 2011-2014 beside her husband, Tom. Rose had many hobbies, including making potica, shopping, traveling, walking the beach, spending time with her family and her favorite: gardening."

Visitation will be on Friday from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Farkas Funeral Home, 3201 West Jefferson St.

The funeral is Saturday with a brief visitation from 8 to 9 a.m. with Mass at 10 a.m. at St Joseph's Catholic Church in downtown Joliet, 416 N. Chicago St.

Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Joliet.
