Rottweiler Kills Little Dog In Joliet: Cops

Joliet Police cited the dog owner's owner, a 68-year-old man.

JOLIET, IL — A 68-year-old Joliet man was given a $150 compliance ticket after Joliet Police say the man was walking his Rottweiler without a leash when it bit a Chihuahua, killing the much smaller dog. The incident happened Wednesday evening.

Police said Ronald Mayweather, who lives in the 400 block of Grover street, was cited around 7 p.m. for negligent control of an animal in reference to the dog bite.

City officers were sent to the 400 block of Gardner Street, on the city's southeast side, after a woman called to alert the police that Mayweather was walking his Rottweiler without a leash when his dog attacked and bit her little Chihuahua, police reports show.

"The victim stated that her dog was fatally wounded by the attack," police reports indicate.
