Saturday Protest Set For Crest Hill's Puppy In The Window Store
The Joliet animal welfare advocacy group said that its peaceful protest will take place from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday.

CREST HILL - A local animal welfare organization will be showing up Saturday to discourage people from patronizing a former Joliet pet store that moved to Crest Hill in June. Safe Pets for Joliet said it will conduct a peaceful protest from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. The target of the event is Puppy in the Window, a business that recently opened in the 2400 block of Caton Farm Road. The store was previously located on Joliet's Larkin Avenue until August 2016, the organization said.
According to Safe Pets for Joliet, Saturday's protest aims to educate customers about pet stores and puppy mills.
"During its time in Joliet, Puppy in the Window purchased its dogs from many USDA licensed breeders who failed to comply with the federal Animal Welfare Act," stated a Safe Pets for Joliet press release. "Protest participants seek to dissuade consumers from patronizing pet stores that sell animals from inhumane commercial breeders and instead adopt a homeless pet from the area's numerous animal shelters and rescues."
