JOLIET, IL — People work thousands of different jobs in Joliet every day, but one of the most terrifying jobs right now is taking place in downtown Joliet, at the old St. Mary Carmelite Catholic Church, the property that has sat empty for more than 30 years!

Joliet Patch previously broke the big news revealing that a Tinley Park couple, Joe and Jennifer Matise, are embarking on a multi-million dollar redevelopment in downtown Joliet, remodeling St. Mary's Carmelite to turn it into a major Chicagoland attraction.

The new business will be called The Matise and the new owners are intending to have their place open next August.

If you are afraid of heights and ledges, this type of work is not for you.

In an Oct. 1 story, Joliet Patch reported that the new property owners, Joe and Jennifer Matise, are planning to open The Matise, a historic entertainment venue along North Ottawa Street that will focus on weddings, corporate events, fund-raisers, proms and more. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, The Matise will offer live music.

"These will be national touring acts," explained Joe Matise. "Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays will be weddings and events. We would be open year-round."
