Sexual Assault Victim Forced Into Vehicle, Joliet Man Caught: JPD

The 48-year-old woman was approached in a parking lot in the 1100 block of Plainfield Road and driven to Ruby Street, Joliet police noted.

JOLIET, IL — Bail has been set at $150,000 for a 39-year-old Joliet man from Broadway Street who is accused of shoving a 48-year-old woman into his vehicle and sexually assaulting her near Ruby Street nearly two-and-a-half years ago.

On Thursday, Joliet police captured Eduardo Munoz-Garcia, who comes from the 1200 block of North Broadway. He's charged with two counts of criminal sexual assault and two counts of criminal sexual abuse.

Joliet police say the sexual assault happened back on June 25, 2021.

According to police spokesman Dwayne English:

Officers learned that in the late evening hours of June 25, 2021, a 48-year-old woman was approached by a man in a parking lot in the 1100 block of Plainfield Road. He pushed her into his vehicle and then drove to an area near Ruby Street where he sexually assaulted her.

The victim escaped and ran away.

During an investigation of this incident, Joliet police detectives identified Munoz-Garcia as their prime suspect and an arrest warrant was obtained on August 19, 2022.

Then, on Thursday, Joliet police spotted Munoz-Garcia in the 1200 block of North Broadway Street, which is where he resides, he was taken into custody.
