Shirley J. Hertzmann

Passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 23, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 77 years.

Shirley is survived by her three sons Paul R. (Melisa) Hertzmann, Bradley R. (Laura Buhle) Hertzmann, and Brian C. Hertzmann. She was the proud grandmother to her ten grandchildren Joshua (Jenny) Hertzmann, Jacob (Lindsay) Hertzmann, Grant Hertzmann, Brynn Hertzmann, Ashley (Mike) Larson, Jaclyn (Phillip) Carroccio, Nick Hertzmann, Alyssa (Robert) Knauer, Madison Baker, and Morgan Hester. She also cherished her five great-grandchildren Reece, Radley, Gia, Francesca, Caleb, and Abe.

Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard “Dick” D. Hertzmann (1994) and her parents, Donald R. and Dorothy (nee Cronholm) Goodman.

Born on March 31, 1947 in Joliet, Shirley graduated from Lockport Township High School Class of 1965. Shirley enjoyed a long and successful career, retiring from Jim Lacey State Farm Insurance after 39 years, where she became fondly known to her clients as “State Farm Shirley.” Along with her late husband Dick, they owned and operated the Dick Hertzmann Hammond Organ Store in Joliet and Aurora.

Among her many passions were playing the organ and piano, bringing joy to those around her with her music. She also treasured spending time with her family, boating on the Kankakee River, creating lasting memories on the water. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to her in-home caregiver Gloria Mwaba, for her devoted care and support.

Funeral services will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Rd., Friday, March 28th at 11:00 A.M. Interment Elmhurst Cemetery. Memorials to Lightways Hospice or Will County Humane Society will be appreciated. Visitation will be held Friday from 9:00 A.M until time of services.
