School Shooting Threat For Joliet West: Police Beef Up Patrols
High school will go on Friday as normal, but Joliet police will have an added presence, the agency announced.

JOLIET, IL — Late Thursday night, Joliet police alerted thousands of Facebook followers that someone made a threat of committing a shooting at Joliet West High School on Friday.
High school classes will go on as planned Friday, though more Joliet police officers than usual will be present at the Larkin Avenue high school to ensure student safety.
"We are currently investigating this post and collaborating with Joliet Township High School District 204 officials. There will be an increased presence of officers during tomorrow's school day," Joliet police announced.

According to Joliet West school officials, "There will be increased security and a police presence at school tomorrow, and we are conducting metal detecting and searches. We will communicate additional information as it becomes available. The safety of our students and staff is always our first priority."
