Shot By Joliet Police In 2022: Joliet Career Criminal Off To Prison

JOLIET, IL — Ryan Reddick, a long-time Joliet criminal who received three gunshots 15 months ago from Joliet police officer Juan Santiago after Reddick bolted from his passenger seat, clutching his gun, trying to get away from an east side traffic stop, is now adjusting to his new surroundings at the Illinois Department of Corrections facility in East Moline.
Reddick worked out a plea bargain with the Will County State's Attorney's Office several weeks ago, court records show. As part of their deal, the 37-year-old Reddick pleaded guilty to aggravated unlawful use of a weapon by a convicted felon, as well as aggravated assault of a police officer.
Separately, Reddick pleaded guilty to an unrelated crime of loan fraud.

The Illinois Department of Corrections website lists a projected parole date of Nov. 18, 2025 for Reddick, who turns 38 years old later this year at the East Moline Correctional Center. Reddick received 399 days of credit for time already served in the Will County Jail. His remaining prison sentence in East Moline will be served at 50 percent, according to court records.
In connection with the April 6, 2022, shooting, Reddick was sentenced by Will County Judge Daniel Rippy to seven years of prison at the Illinois Department of Corrections.

The loan fraud crime resulted in a three-year prison term, according to Will County court records. Court records indicating Reddick's criminal history takes up four lines of space. Twenty years ago, in 2003, Reddick was sent to prison for aggravated discharge of a gun at an occupied vehicle and an attempted carjacking crime out of Cook County.
On April 6, 2022: "Defendant fled from a traffic stop and was in possession of a firearm when Joliet police officer Juan Santiago attempted to apprehend the defendant. Defendant dropped the firearm. Officer Santiago ordered defendant to leave the firearm and defendant turned, and while facing Officer Santiago, picked up the firearm, making Officer Santiago fear for his life," court records reflect.
On April 9, 2022, Joliet Patch reported Reddick was released from the hospital and put into the Will County Jail. His new bail was $1 million. At that time, Joliet police announced that Reddick was being charged with armed habitual criminal, unlawful possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of marijuana in a car and obstructing a peace officer.
Reddick lived in the 500 block of Landau Avenue on the city's east side.
