Shots Fired, Joliet Man Nicknamed 'Rabbit' Captured By Joliet Police

Joliet police responded to the area of Ward Avenue and Landau Avenue for a report of several gunshots fired.

JOLIET, IL — On Tuesday night, Joliet police cars converged on the east-side neighborhood of Ward and Landau Avenues after someone was firing several gunshots. The incident resulted in the arrest of Rodney "Rabbit" Little, a 31-year-old convicted felon.

Little lives in the 700 block of Landau, which is close to where the gunshots happened. Joliet police booked him into custody on charges of reckless discharge of a gun, obstructing a police officer and unlawful possession of a gun by a felon.

The gunshots were reported to Joliet police around 8:35 p.m.

"Upon arrival, officers overheard an additional shot fired," the Joliet police announced.

As officers canvassed the neighborhood, they found Little sitting in a yard in the 700 block of Landau Avenue.

When Little was ordered to show his hands to Joliet police, he took off running, according to police spokesman Dwayne English.

"Officers established a perimeter around the house and a loaded .22 caliber handgun and spent shell casings were recovered on the ground where Little had just been seated," English informed Joliet Patch.

Little, who lives in the 700 block of Landau, Little walked out of the house a short time later and was taken into custody without further incident, English noted.

Will County Jail logs listed Little's nickname as being the "Rabbit."

Little has previous mugshots still on file from the Will County Jail from 2015, 2017 and 2019.
