Speedway Shooting On Jefferson St. Lands Lockport Man In Jail
This week's shooting happened on West Jefferson Street at the Joliet gas station. Now, David Joseph Jordan is in Will County's Jail.

JOLIET, IL — David Joseph Jordan, a 41-year-old Lockport man, is now incarcerated indefinitely at Will County's Jail in connection with Monday morning's shooting at the Joliet Speedway gas station on West Jefferson Street. Will County Judge Donald DeWilkins ruled that Jordan will be held without pretrial release on his three felony charges, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, aggravated discharge of a firearm and aggravated assault.
According to Assistant Will County State's Attorney Tricia McKenna, the following events led to Jordan's arrest by the Joliet police force:
- Around 7:45 a.m. on Oct. 16, Joliet police were sent to Jefferson and Margaret Streets for gunshots. An officer learned that the shooter had a blue Chevy parked at the Speedway gas station. The officer then saw a blue Chevy Tahoe and Jordan in the driver's seat.
- Joliet police recovered a Smith & Wesson gun with live .40-caliber ammunition inside it; the gun was in the center console of Jordan's Tahoe. Jordan's gun was holstered with a magazine inserted and one round in the chamber.

- Officers interviewed a man who told them he was walking west on Jefferson Street when Jordan exited the parking lot and almost struck him. The victim yelled at Jordan because the victim was mad at what nearly happened.
- The two exchanged words and Jordan drove west on Jefferson and then he circled back into the parking lot and pointed his black gun at the pedestrian and fired one shot at him out the front passenger window.
- The victim took cover by the back door of the Tahoe and now wanted to fight, but he realized Jordan had a gun in his hand.
- "Victim does not like to call the police but did so as (Jordan) stayed and parked nearby," prosecutors outlined in court documents.
- Joliet police interviewed Jordan, and he told them he was buying his gas at Speedway and while he was leaving, the victim tried to get into his vehicle. He drove on Jefferson Street and then turned back into the parking lot. The victim continued to try to get inside his Chevy Tahoe so Jordan fired one gunshot at the passenger side floor board.
- Officers found one spent .40-caliber cartridge at the scene; Joliet police "did not see any indication (Jordan) shot into the passenger side floor board," court documents note.
- Joliet police interviewed another man, age 55, who told them he was pumping gas and saw Jordan and the victim have an argument and Jordan left the parking lot and circled back into the parking lot and discharged his gun from his vehicle in the direction of the victim.
According to McKenna, Joliet police obtained video from the Speedway, and it showed the victim and Jordan have an argument and Jordan left the parking lot and Jordan came back several times.
