'Star Wars' Actress to Appear At Library Event

Orli Shoshan, who played Jedi master Shaak Ti in "Star Wars" episodes II and III, will appear at the Joliet Public Library June 1 as part of its 4th annual Star Wars Day.

Joliet Public Library welcomes actress Orli Shoshan from Star Wars Episode II Attack of the Clones to its Annual Star Wars™ Day.

Saturday, June 1, 2013 will be no ordinary day at the Joliet Public Library as it is transformed into the 4th Annual Star Wars™ Day-a family festival of galactic proportions complete with over 40 costumed Star Wars™ characters, games, live music, prize drawings, movie prop exhibits, Star Wars™ artists and more!

Last year this free event drew over 3,000 guests to Downtown Joliet.  With added attractions and special guests, it is sure to see the same success this summer. 

JPL is pleased to welcome their first actor to Star Wars™ Day, Orli Shoshan.  Orli played the beautiful Elian, Jedi Master, Shaak Ti in “Star Wars- Episode II and Episode III”.  Shaak Ti is a popular character you can find celebrated through many action figures, LEGO sets, comic books and video games.  Orli will be taking pictures with families and children for free on June 1. 

A portion of Clinton St. will be closed to host some of the day’s activities including, live music, food vendors, and kid’s games.  This year, the fun will extend to the Joliet Historical Museum where guests will find kid’s games, professional light saber demonstrations, an author talk, and a preview of the documentary “The Force within Us.”

The 4th Annual Star Wars™ Day will take place Saturday, June 1 from 10 am to 4 p.m. at the Main Library (150 N. Ottawa St. Joliet, IL).  This event is made possible through partnerships with the City of Joliet, Joliet City Center Partnership, Hampton Inn, and Heritage Corridor Convention & Visitors Bureau and through generous sponsorships from the Friends of the Joliet Public Library, D’Arcy Buick-GMC, and DK Publishing.   For more information please visit jolietlibrary.org/starwarsday
