JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police Department has arrested a 25-year-old woman from Crystal Lake after Joliet police say Brittany Drabek put up a fight when officers tried to arrest her Sunday evening in connection with a stolen car in her possession.

Drabek was later taken to the police station and given her notice to appear on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle and aggravated resisting a peace officer.

Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said that at 7:23 p.m., officers responded to a house in the 1300 block of Kinsey Avenue for a missing person case. Drabek had been reported missing to McHenry Police Department by her family, and the vehicle believed to be stolen was owned by a member of Drabek’s family, English said.

Officers found Drabek at the house on Kinsey, according to police, and the stolen motor vehicle was parked in the garage. Officers learned that Drabek did not have authority to take the vehicle and when officers tried to take Drabek into custody, she resisted the arrest, trying to pull her hands away from the officers, according to English.

During the struggle, Drabek was taken to the ground by Joliet police and placed into custody without further incident, arrest reports show.
