Our Lady appeared to St. Catherine Laboure and St. Bernadette Soubirous
within just twenty-eight years of each other. Her message
in both cases was one of spiritual healing through the
merciful love a her Son, Jesus.
What joy to think that St. Bernadette, when visited by Our
Lady of Lourdes in 1858, was wearing a medal with the
exact copy of the front of the Miraculous Medal. This is
no coincidence. Instead, it is a tangible reminder of the
very real connection between the apparitions to Catherine
Laboure and those of Lourdes. It is a great inspiration to
wear our Miraculous Medal at all times, trusting in Mary–
Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception/Lourdes to
obtain God’s healing grace for the World.
The miraculous spring still flows in Lourdes. People still
come in procession to Lourdes. Miracles still grace the
grotto of Lourdes. But the grotto’s greatest miracle is the
girl Our Lady asked to “come closer” to her that February
day in Lourdes—and her name is “Bernadette”.
