JOLIET, IL — For the past several years, an old car remained at the bottom of Joliet's dirty canal, but on Thursday, members of the Joliet police and Joliet fire departments gathered north of the McDonough Street Bridge to help crews pull the submerged vehicle from the Des Plaines River.

The abandoned vehicle may have been in the canal for a number of years, authorities told Patch.

Joliet resident Bob Hernandez said he learned about the incident, and went to the scene to produce a Facebook Live video showing the car being pulled from the bottom of Joliet's canal.
