Suspects Apprehended After Joliet Bank Robbery, Car Chase
Incident was second area bank robbery in as many days.

Two men are in custody and being questioned in connection with a reported bank robbery at Merchants & Manufacturers Bank, 990 Essington Rd., on Tuesday morning.
Joliet Cmdr. Al Roechner said police responded to a report of a bank robbery at 10:29 a.m.
FBI Special Agent Joan Hyde said two men entered the bank, and although one displayed a gun, there were no shots fired. They left with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspects reportedly fled the bank in a white, four-door vehicle. Roechner said police spotted a vehicle matching that description near Ultra Foods in the 1500 block of Larkin.
Police attempted a traffic stop, but instead of pulling over, the suspects reportedly took off, leading police officers on a vehicle pursuit. The suspects eventually ditched the car, according to police, leading officers on a foot pursuit before they found hiding in two yards in the 1000 block of Vine Street, where they were apprehended.

The two men are being questioned in connection with the robbery by the FB and Joliet detectives, police said.
The men are charged with fleeing, eluding and obstructing police in connection with the pursuit, police said.
Hyde said she anticipates bank robbery charges will be filed against the pair.
The incident was the second bank robbery in Will County in as many days. On Monday, a teller was shot during a robbery at First Midwest Bank in Bolingbrook. On Tuesday morning, an FBI spokeswoman said a suspect in that robbery was still at large.
Hyde said investigators have no reason to believe Tuesday’s Joliet robbery is connected to the Bolingbrook incident.
