Tinted Windows Leads To Loaded Gun: Joliet Police
Jermain Holmes, age 34, is in Will County's Jail. His charges: aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and cannabis possession by a passenger.

JOLIET, IL — A 34-year-old Joliet man is now in the Will County Jail after Joliet police say they recovered a loaded gun from inside a little satchel bag belonging to Jermain Holmes.
Following Monday night's traffic stop along the busy stretch of West Jefferson Street, Holmes was put into the back of the squad car and brought to the jail. His charges are: aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and possession of cannabis by a passenger.
According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, the traffic stop happened at 8:12 p.m.

- English's press release indicated the following events led to the arrest:
- Officers made the traffic stop on a Kia Sorento near West Jefferson Street and North Reed Street for a tinted windows violation. Holmes was a passenger.
- While speaking to the occupants, officers saw cannabis inside the vehicle. The cannabis was recovered from the vehicle. Upon search of Holmes, Joliet police recovered a loaded handgun from a satchel bag in his possession. Holmes was placed into custody without incident.
- The driver, Dynean Porter, age 35, of Joliet, was cited for illegal window tint and released at the scene. Porter's vehicle was towed from the scene.
