Tree Limb Kills Joliet Man: No Foul Play Suspected By Joliet PD

Wednesday afternoon's deadly incident happened in Joliet in the 800 block of Hobbs Drive, over on the city's west side.

JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police Department is not pursuing any criminal charges in connection with Wednesday afternoon's tree-limb cutting incident that took the life of 80-year-old resident Joseph Delgado on the city's west side.

According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, afternoon shift officers went to 817 Hobbs Drive around 3:35 p.m. to provide medical help to Delgado.

Delgado was struck by a large tree branch that another person was cutting from a tree. A Joliet Fire Department ambulance rushed Delgado to an area hospital, and another news outlet indicated that Delgado later died in Cook County at the Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood.

"This incident appears accidental in nature and no foul play is suspected," English announced.
