Tropical Smoothie Cafe: Joliet's New Location Revealed

Tropical Smoothie Cafe was founded in 1997, and opened its first franchise in Tallahassee, Florida, in 1998, according to its website.

JOLIET, IL — This week marked the grand opening for the Charleys Philly Cheesesteaks restaurant, but that's not the only new restaurant opening at the Tony's Fresh Market shopping center at Larkin Avenue and West Jefferson Street.

Tropical Smoothie Cafe will be opening real soon right next door to the Charleys.

According to its website, there are more than 1,300 Tropical Smoothie locations all over the United States and the company wants to have at least 1,500 by 2025. Tropical Smoothie Cafes are usually open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.

There is a Tropical Smoothie in the new Starbucks building that was built last year on the site of the former Pier One Imports store at 3064 Plainfield Road, near the Louis Joliet Mall. That location has 39 Google Reviews, so far, averaging 4.3 stars out of 5 stars.

At Tropical Smoothie, featured beverages include the strawberry-margarita smoothie, island punch smoothie, watermelon mojito smoothie and the edible straw. The tropical treats include the Bahama mama, beach bum, mocha madness and the peanut buttercup.

Its food items include the Caribbean jerk chicken, buffalo chicken and supergreen Caesar chicken. There's also flatbreads, wraps, quesadillas, sandwiches, salads, breakfast, kids food and sides such as jalapeno corn, kale & apple slaw, and maple-kissed sweet potatoes.
