Troy Craughwell Teacher Kim Vervack Receives "Teacher Salute"

Honor given by Chicago radio station WLIT

Photo: Troy School District 30-C teacher Kim Vervack, pictured here with Troy Craughwell Assistant Principal Steve Foster, was recently honored by the Chicago radio station WLIT with a “Teacher Salute.”

Kim Vervack, 1st grade teacher at Troy Craughwell Elementary School, received a “Teacher Salute” this month on Chicago radio station WLIT, 93.9 FM. The salute was announced live on air by the station’s morning personality Melissa Forman.

Vervack was nominated by former Craughwell special education teacher Kristy Kormaniak, who worked closely with Vervack. Craughwell Principal Kathy Barker said the salute was well-deserved.

“Kim works diligently to ensure the success of the students in her classroom, grade level and our entire school,” Barker said. “She is a very loving and compassionate teacher who is dedicated to building positive relationships with her students and their families.”

For the salute, Vervack received a gift card for services at Mario Tricoci Hair Salons and Day Spas. WLIT’s website explained the teacher salutes were a way for the station to honor hard-working Chicagoland teachers and give them some much-deserved pampering.
