3 Joliet Area Districts Won't Open School Buildings Thursday

Heavy rain will begin Wednesday night and turn to freezing rain, and then snow will start early Thursday, forecasters say.

JOLIET, IL — Due to the weather forecast, Joliet District 86, Joliet Township High School District 204 and Troy Community Schools will not have regular classes at their respective school buildings Thursday because of the snowstorm that is expected to hit the Joliet area.

District 86 said that no classes or after school activities will be held Thursday. The school day will be made up on June 6. Joliet West and Joliet Central students in District 204 will have an E-learning day.

Troy School Superintendent Todd Koehl announced that Troy students will have an E-learning day on Thursday. Students will learn from home and will not come to school.

Troy's school district was founded in 1949 and includes portions of Joliet, Shorewood, Channahon, Crest Hill, and unincorporated Troy Township.
