Twitter Beef Leads to Punch in the Face, Ripped Off Weave and Car Crash: Cops

The Joliet women fought on Twitter, police said, and then they fought in the street.

JOLIET, IL — A Twitter beef turned into a real live fight Tuesday morning, police said, as one woman punched another in the face and tore off her weave, and the other rammed her car with her own vehicle.

The two women — Takina McCann, 20, and Arieonna Merrell, 22 — had been taunting each other on Twitter for some time when they bumped into each other at a store on the corner of Second Avenue and Richards Street shortly before 10 a.m.

The women left the store, police said, and McCann got in a Dodge Neon and Merrell got behind the wheel of a Chevy Impala.

The two women stopped their cars in the street, police said. McCann reportedly got out of her Neon, walked up to Merrell’s Impala and punched her through the driver’s side window. She also allegedly ripped off Merrell’s weave.

McCann reportedly got back in her Neon and headed over to Joliet Central High School. As she was pulling into the parking lot, Merrell allegedly rammed her car.

Officers called out to break up a fight found McCann and Merrell going at it near the corner of Sherman Street and Fifth Avenue, police said, and they arrested the two women. They also reportedly found pot in Merrell’s car.

Merrell was charged with aggravated battery and possession of marijuana. She was taken to the Will County jail.

McCann was charged with battery. She was released on her own recognizance.
