Uber Driver Johnny Au Jailed In Joliet For ID Theft
Au was arrested by the Joliet Police Department on the night of June 5.

JOLIET, IL - If you use Uber, you may have gotten a ride from Johnny Au. But Au hasn't been shuttling people around the Chicago area these past 10 days. Au remains locked up in downtown Joliet at the Will County Adult Detention Facility. He was put there as a result of a criminal investigation led by Joliet Police Department. The State's Attorney of Will County has charged Au with a Class 1 felony, identity theft, between $10,000 and $100,000 as well as possessing or displaying fraudulent identification, a Class 3 felony.
Au, 30, shows an address in Chicago in the 7600 block of Paulina Street.
The criminal complaint states that Au fraudulently obtained the ID of his victim as well as their birth date and Social Security number to obtain credit, and the value of that credit exceeded $10,000 but not $100,000.

According to court documents, Au listed his line of work as being a driver for Uber. A Will County judge set Au's bail at $50,000. He has remained in the county jail since the early morning hours of June 6, jail logs still show.
