Unwanted Guest At Motel 6 Tasered By Joliet Police: English

At 2:57 a.m., Joliet police responded to Motel 6 at 1850 McDonough Street for a report of an unwanted person on the premises.

JOLIET, IL — Joliet police officers deployed a Taser upon a 22-year-old Orland Park man who was lurking around the Motel 6 on McDonough Street causing problems, according to arrest reports.

Because of the incident, Yanni Bella was taken away in handcuffs, Joliet police had him arrested on two charges of aggravated battery to a peace officer, resisting a peace officer and criminal trespass.

Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said the following events unfolded at 2:57 a.m. on Monday at 1850 McDonough Street:

  • Officers responded to the Motel 6 for an unwanted person on the premises. Officers located Bella and learned he was walking and knocking on doors of numerous guest rooms.
  • Bella was not a guest at the motel, and he refused to leave the premises.
  • As officers attempted to place Bella into custody, he began to struggle and pull away. During his struggle, Bella shoved an officer. Officers deployed a taser and took him into custody.
  • While at the Joliet Police Department, Bella headbutted an additional officer. Bella was secured and eventually transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
