USF to Host New Conference for K-12 Educators
Professional development opportunity will feature a broad range of topics for those who serve and support K-12 students
Joliet, Ill. – On Monday, Oct. 15, 2018, the University of St. Francis College of Education will host a new conference for teachers, counselors, administrators, and other school personnel. Educators attending the Support Our Students Conference will gain valuable knowledge and strategies designed to assist students with the social and emotional issues that often interfere with learning. Topics include Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), Teaching Cyber Safety, The Growing Problem of Substance Abuse and the Need for Increased Drug Education Programming and The Neurobiology of Addiction in the Developing Brain. Participants will also explore mindfulness as a self-care strategy to manage the personal stress associated with supporting others in need.
The conference will be held at the USF Main Campus located at 500 Wilcox Street in Joliet from 8:30 a.m.- 4 p.m. The cost is $50 per attendee and includes breakfast and lunch, as well as the opportunity for licensed teachers, administrators, and school support personnel to earn professional development hours.
