Victim Shot, Dumped Along Joliet Junior College Entrance, Joliet Police Solve Shooting 3 Months Later

JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police Department continues to solve the overwhelming majority of shootings that happen throughout our community as police spokesman Dwayne English revealed the April 13 shooting along the gateway for the Joliet Junior College campus has now been solved.

"Following an extensive investigation into the April 13, 2026,
shooting of a 20-year-old man, Joliet Police detectives identified Ozell Seaton, 19, Willowbrook, as a suspect in this case," English revealed in Tuesday night's press release.

On April 13, 2026, at 3:49 a.m., officers responded to Edward C. Wilko Lane, west of Houbolt Road, for a report of a man down. Upon arrival, officers located a 20-year-old male lying in the grass with multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was transported to Saint Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department and later transferred to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where he remains in critical condition.

In Tuesday night's press release, English noted that on July 1, the detectives obtained an arrest warrant charging Seaton with aggravated battery, armed robbery, aggravated discharge of a
firearm, possession of a gun without a Firearm Owner's Identification Card and aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon.

On Tuesday morning, the members of the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Fugitive Task Force located and arrested Seaton in Willowbrook. He was transported to the Joliet Police
Department for processing before being transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.

"Thank you to the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Fugitive Task Force for their assistance in this case," English declared in his press release.
