FBI special agent Janine Wheeler out of Chicago confirmed for Patch that there was an attempted robbery at the Chase bank at 2222 Essington Road at 12:59 p.m. "I have no additional information to share at this time," she responded by email.

By mid-afternoon, Alfonso Lucas Garcia was near the Louis Joliet Mall when several police cars buzzed by. They were in hot pursuit of a maroon sports utility vehicle. Garcia's Facebook page went haywire after he uploaded a short video that captured part of the police pursuit, a video later uploaded to YouTube.
