JOLIET, IL — Another new clothing store has opened in downtown Joliet, and this one focuses on apparel made during the 1980s and 1990s. Twin brothers Adam and Zach McDowell, along with James Cosentino, opened The Juncture on July 31.

Their storefront is at 114 East Jefferson St. They're directly across the street from the Joliet Slammers baseball stadium. The three 21-year-olds are staying open from noon to 6 p.m., Monday and Tuesday, and noon to 8 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday. For now, they're closed on Wednesday and Thursday.

"We've all been collecting vintage clothes for about five years," Adam McDowell told Joliet Patch during Friday's interview. "We just saw a huge demand around the Joliet area for this. Some of our clothes is from the 1980s and 1990s, but it's brand new.

"We're trying to sell these shirts that we think are cool for a good price."

The Juncture carries several racks of T-shirts, sweatshirts, pants, denim, clothing accessories and bags. It's unisex and for adults.

Clothing racks will change with the seasons.

With Fall around the corner, the three area friends plan to offer more pants, flannels, crew necks and jackets. The McDowells grew up in Shorewood, and Cosentino is from Joliet.

"We get new clothes almost every day," remarked Zach McDowell. "More racks and more clothes."

The three friends say they want The Juncture to be known as "a family friendly place."

"A lot of our clothes are new. It's a mix of new and used clothing," Zach McDowell said.

The Juncture also focuses on being environmentally friendly "instead of sending all of these clothes out to a landfill," Cosentino said.

"That's a big part of why we chose vintage clothes. We definitely push the eco-friendly, too," he added.

The Juncture encourages people to follow their Instagram page @thejuncturevtg. That's where they post photos of their newest inventory.

"We really like being downtown," Adam McDowell said. "Especially being across from the baseball stadium and the train station."

"I think it's going to be more of a hot stop than it used to be," Cosentino said. "I want to see Joliet do good."
