Want to Take Part in an Independent Movie Filming in Joliet?
The production will use local talent and feature unique Joliet area locations and vehicles in the film.

JOLIET, IL — An independent movie is set to be filmed in Joliet, and you have an opportunity to take part in it.
“Kingfisher” will begin shooting Aug. 20, and involves ghosts, witches and a werewolf, according to a city news release. It is a fantasy/comedy that will be directed by Chicago native Austin Vesely, whose recent music video for Chance the Rapper is up for an MTV Music Award.
“We are very excited that this production will come to Joliet and will feature our citizens and showcase the sites and scenery of our community. Movie productions are a vital part of our city’s economic development efforts,” Joliet Mayor Bob O’Dekirk said.

The "Kingfisher" production will use local talent and feature unique Joliet area locations and vehicles. Those interested in being an extra should send information, including their name, age, a picture, and their availability, along with email and contact phone number, to extra@shatterglassfilms.com. (Youth ages 12-18 must be accompanied by parent or guardian.)
“We are very happy that this film is being made in the wonderful City of Joliet and in the great State of Illinois,” said Brett Hays, one of the movie’s producers and a principal at Champaign’s Shatterglass Films. “We look forward to working with Joliet city officials on this venture and we have already received a warm welcome and offers of assistance from them.”
