Wanted Ex-Con Armed With BB Gun Failed in Flight From Joliet Cops: Police
The black BB gun appeared to be an actual .45-caliber firearm, police said.

A wanted ex-convict tried to outrun the Joliet cops but didn’t get far before he was caught, police said.
Peter McCloud, 29, caught the law’s attention after a call came in about a pistol-packing man walking down Cass Street about noon Tuesday, police said.
McCloud reportedly matched the description of the man and when a squad car approached, he abruptly turned on his heel and started walking in other direction.

The squad still caught up to the fugitive, police said, and when the officer got out of his vehicle McCloud dashed across the street.
Two officers apprehended McCloud after a short chase, police said. The pistol he was reportedly carrying turned out to be a black plastic BB gun, albeit one that bore a striking resemblance to an actual firearm.

After McCloud was in custody, officers learned the Department of Corrections had issued a warrant for his arrest. McCloud’s parole status has him listed as an “absconder.”
McCloud was released from prison in February. He did time for trespassing and robbery convictions out of DuPage County, a Peoria County burglary, and an arson conviction from Champaign County.
