Woman Shot in Arm and Side While Riding in SUV Through Joliet

The woman did not see the gunman and has no idea who shot her, police said.

A woman was shot in the arm and side as she rode through Joliet in a sport utility vehicle early Monday.

The 25-year-old woman was a passenger in a Mercury Mountaineer. She was shot about 1 a.m. near the corner of Ingalls Avenue and Summit Street.

A single bullet hit the woman’s left forearm, passed through and entered her side, police said. She was taken to Presence St. Joseph Medical Center and was expected to survive the attack.
