West Side Cell Phone Robber Pepper Sprays Victim: Joliet Police
Ten days after the violent crime, Joliet police detectives captured their suspect, Omari Danner, and booked him into jail.

JOLIET, IL — Joliet police have arrested 21-year-old Omari Danner in connection with a late November robbery on the city's far west side near Bronk Road. Police say that Danner used pepper spray on the victim of his Nov. 23 robbery in the 1000 block of Erins Glen Drive.
The crime happened around 10 p.m.
"Officers determined an agreement was made to sell a cell phone using social media," police reports show.

Danner showed up at the Joliet house of the victim to buy the phone but when the victim handed over the phone, "the suspect sprayed the victim in the face with pepper spray. Another person that was on scene ran to the suspect’s vehicle and removed the keys from the ignition. The suspect unsuccessfully attempted to pepper spray the second victim," police said.
According to police, Danner got involved with a scuffle with a second person at the house and that person was able to get control of Danner's keys and phone.

"The suspect received his phone and keys back after agreeing to return the original victim’s phone," police reports show. "One of the victims attempted to stop the suspect from leaving the scene in his vehicle at which time this victim was dragged for a short distance by the suspect’s vehicle while fleeing the scene."
On Thursday, Joliet police located Danner and booked him into the Will County Jail around 7:45 p.m. Danner resides in the 500 block of Illinois Street, jail logs reflect.
