Western Ave. Mom Leaves 4 Kids Home Alone, Joliet Police Say
The crime happened in the 400 block of Western Avenue, according to Joliet Police.
JOLIET, IL - Joliet Police officers arrested a 27-year-old mother early Saturday morning after police say they found her children home alone and some of them had soiled diapers inside the filthy residence, a property in the 400 block of Western Avenue. Desiree Jones was arrested by Joliet Police on charges of endangering the health and life of a child.
Police responded to the property on Western Avenue around 2 a.m. when they were called to do a welfare check upon the children.
"Officers knocked on the door of the residence and the children opened the door. The four children, ranging from 1 to 10 years of age, were left alone with no adult supervision. Several of the children had soiled diapers on and the residence was in disarray with a limited amount of food," Joliet Police reports show.

In time, Joliet Police reached Jones and notified her that she needed to return to her residence, reports show.
"Jones gave conflicting statements on where she was at while the children were left home alone. Jones indicated a neighbor was supposed to occasionally check on the children while she was away. Jones was arrested for the above listed offense," reports show.

Jones was later released from the Joliet Police Station on an I-Bond.
