JOLIET, IL — Will County Sheriff Mike Kelley announced Wednesday that one of his courthouse security deputies has tested positive for the new coronavirus. On Monday, Kelley revealed one of his sheriff's deputies assigned to the gang suppression unit also tested positive for the illness.

According to Kelley, the courthouse deputy called in sick to work on Friday, March 27 and indicated he thought he had coronavirus symptoms. The deputy has since stayed at home except for leaving to get tested.

The tests came back positive, Kelley noted.

As for the gang suppression unit deputy, he remains at home and is recovering, the sheriff's office stated.
