Will County Overnight Crash Leaves 1 Man Dead: Coroner
Will County Coroner Patrick O'Neil said an autopsy was scheduled for Friday.

A man from Calumet City, Illinois was killed early Friday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Will County. Coroner Patrick K. O'Neil announced the victim was William Bass III, though no age was given. At any rate, O'Neil said that Bass was the driver of a vehicle that struck another vehicle on Exchange Street, about a quarter-mile west of Stateline Road, over in Crete Township. The fatal occurred around midnight.
The coroner's office said the crash is now being investigated by the Will County Sheriff's Police. O'Neil's press statement did not explain whether the other driver was injured. Patch has reached out to the Will County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Kathy Hoffmeyer for more information about the circumstances of the crash investigation.
O'Neil did say an autopsy was scheduled for Friday to investigate the cause and manner of Bass' death.
