Wilmington Cop Punched In Mouth, Judge Lowers Defendant's Bail: WPD
A resident of North Judson, Indiana, 21-year-old William Peddycord was arrested by Wilmington police officers on June 24.

WILMINGTON, IL —A 21-year-old resident of North Judson, Indiana who is accused of punching a Wilmington police officer in the mouth on June 24 is no longer in custody. Will County Circuit Judge Daniel Rippy lowered the defendant's bail from $20,000 to $5,000, court records show.
Criminal defendant William Peddycord was freed from the Will County Jail on June 28 after spending five days in custody.
Peddycord has also retained private counsel, hiring the Law Offices of Daniel Walsh, one of Joliet's more notable criminal defense lawyers.

According to the criminal complaint, Will County prosecutors have charged Peddycord with aggravated battery, resisting a peace officer, domestic battery and criminal trespass. On June 24, Peddycord punched a Wilmington police officer in the mouth, the complaint noted.
The previous day, June 23, Peddycord choked a woman who is a family and household member, court records show. Also on June 23, Peddycord remained on the land of a different woman in Wilmington, in the 500 block of East County Road, "after receiving notice from the occupant to depart," the complaint stated.

In his motion for a bond reduction, Walsh asked the judge to release his client on a personal recognizance bond, "due to his lack of criminal history."
