Woman Choked On Clement Street, Man, 42, Arrested: Police

A Joliet Fire Department ambulance was sent to the 100 block of Clement Street to treat the victim for her injuries.

JOLIET, IL — A 44-year-old Joliet man remains in the Will County Jail facing $20,000 bail in connection with Saturday's arrest around supper time in the 100 block of Clement Street. Joliet police say Gabriel Picil became violent, choking a woman at his apartment unit.

Now, Picil faces charges of aggravated domestic battery.

Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said the incident happened around 5:45 p.m. Saturday:

  • After officers responded to Clement Street for a domestic disturbance, they learned that during an argument in the home, Picil grabbed the woman's throat and began to choke her and then struck the victim numerous times in the face.
  • Picil was placed into custody without incident. A Joliet Fire Department ambulance responded to treat the victim’s injuries, but she was not taken to the hospital.
