Woman Injured After Car Rolls into Creek

The driver lost control and drove off a 10-foot drop into a creek.

JOLIET TOWNSHIP, IL — One woman was injured after a car fishtailed and dropped into a creek last week.

Will County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kathy Hoffmeyer said a 1998 Chevy Cavalier driven by a 20-year-old Dana man was traveling northbound on Cherry Hill Road north of Spangler Road in Joliet Township when he lost control of his vehicle after going from the paved section of the road to the gravel section.

“He began to lose control and fishtail from side to side,” Hoffmeyer said.

The Chevy then left the roadway and drove off a 10-foot drop into Jackson Creek, where the car flipped onto its roof, Hoffmeyer said.

The driver and a 20-year-old Manhattan woman escaped from the car and were standing outside the ditch when deputies arrived. The woman complained of stomach and pelvic pains and was taken to Silver Cross Hospital. No citations were issued.
