Woman Throws Boiling Water On Her Mother, Police Say

This 29-year-old Joliet woman remains jailed for harming her own mother, according to police.

JOLIET, IL - A 29-year-old woman was hauled away by Joliet Police on Wednesday night in connection with allegations that she intentionally threw boiling water upon her mother, according to police reports. Now, Tessia Petrusich is being detained in the Will County Jail on charges of aggravated domestic battery. Her mother is being treated at St. Joe's hospital.

Joliet Police say they were called to the unit block of Salem Drive around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday regarding a domestic spat involving Petrusich, who lives at the address. The house is near the St. Patrick's Cemetery, over in the Reedwood area.

"Officers were advised that Petrusich had an order of protection against her that had not been served yet. Upon arrival, officers were told by a witness that Petrusich threw boiling water on their mother and that she was at St. Joes receiving burn treatments," Joliet Police said.

Eventually, Joliet officers drove over to the St. Joe's hospital where they interviewed the victim. Petrusich's mother told them "that she and Petrusich were in an argument, when Petrusich took boiling water off the stove and threw it at her. The victim received large burn marks across her chest area. Petrusich was located and arrested for the above offense," police said.

Around 12:15 a.m. Thursday, Petrusich was booked into the Will County Jail, a place she was an inmate on two occasions in 2016.

This time, her bail has been set at $25,000.

It remains to be seen whether she come sup with the necessary 10 percent to post as bond.
