Woman Who Left Kids In Car At Bar Faces New Felonies: Prosecutor

JOLIET, IL — A woman from Lockport's Dellwood Avenue who Joliet police say left her small children inside her parked car while she frequented two different neighborhood bars this summer now faces new felony charges from the Will County State's Attorney's Office of Jim Glasgow.

Last week, a grand jury returned a new bill of indictment charging 37-year-old Kimberly Ann Wells with two separate counts of aggravated driving while license revoked. One criminal complaint indicates Wells drove a Ford vehicle on Route 52 in Shorewood on June 7 "at a time when her driver's license was revoked."

That complaint states that "the current violation ... is the defendant's sixth violation."

The other aggravated driving while license revoked charge indicates Wells drove a Ford vehicle on Route 52 in Shorewood on March 8, 2021, at a time when her driver's license was also revoked for previous Will County convictions.

According to the Will County Warrants website, Wells currently has three separate outstanding warrants for her arrest in Will County. Two are for the cases where the Joliet police arrested her earlier this summer. The third involves a failure to appear in court warrant that was issued when Wells was a no-show in late August for one of her pretrial hearings at Will County's courthouse.

Joliet Patch previously reported that Kimberly Wells was arrested in June and July after police said she left her two children, ages 2 and 3, in her car while she went into a bar. The first incident happened June 28, when her children were left unattended while Wells was inside the Crow's Next Tavern in Joliet, according to police.

The second arrest happened July 15 at Los Gavenos Bar in Joliet, when police say again Wells left her children unattended in her vehicle while she went inside the bar.
