Woman's Toe Bitten After Punch To Her Face: JPD

Stephanie Bermudez, age 26, then threw the victim onto a bed and struck her in the face multiple times, Joliet police said.

JOLIET, IL — A 26-year-old woman from Chicago is now staying in the Kendall County Jail after Joliet police say Stephanie Bermudez violently attacked a 47-year-old woman on Wednesday morning in the Kendall County area of Joliet.

Bermudez was hauled off in handcuffs, and she's charged with domestic battery, unlawful restraint, violation of an order of protection, plus she had an arrest warrant from the Lyons Police Department.

  • At 6:22 a.m. Joliet police were sent to a house in the 1000 block of Plaintain Drive for a domestic.
  • During an argument, Bermudez attacked the 47-year-okl woman and locked her in a bathroom for 10 minutes before another family member opened the door and let her out, police said.
  • According to the report, Bermudez then threw the victim onto a bed and struck her in the face multiple times.
  • Bermudez is also accused of biting a toe of the victim and pulling her hair.
  • Meanwhile, police say that officers found out Bermudez was the respondent in an order of protection in which the Plaintain Drive house was listed as the protected address.
  • The 26-year-old Chicago woman had been let into the house by a different family member.
  • Officers determined that Bermudez faced an active arrest warrant from Lyons Police Department for failure to appear in court on previous resisting/obstructing a peace officer.
