At the same time, the Kankakee Fire Department is upgrading equipment with a new ladder truck, pumper engine, and state-funded extrication tools, reflecting the city’s substantial investment in public safety. 
• Men's soccer takes down No. 21 Northern Michigan (nwitimes.com) — Kankakee native Ricardo Cruz scored the lone goal for Purdue Northwest men’s soccer in a 1-0 upset of nationally ranked Northern Michigan, earning a statement GLIAC win.
