Kenilworth Historical Society Announces 2026 Biennial Dinner Featuring WTTW’s Geoffrey Baer

KENILWORTH, IL — The Kenilworth Historical Society will host its 2026 Biennial Dinner on Thursday, October 29, from 6:00 to 9:30 p.m. at the Kenilworth Assembly Hall, continuing a community tradition that dates back more than a century.

Since 1922, the Biennial Dinner has been a special occasion for members of the Historical Society, residents, friends, and neighboring organizations to come together and celebrate Kenilworth’s unique history and character.

This year’s featured speaker will be Geoffrey Baer, multiple Emmy Award-winning producer and program host for WTTW in Chicago and one of the city’s most recognizable storytellers. Baer is best known as the host and writer of WTTW’s feature-length specials exploring the architecture, neighborhoods, history, and cultural life of Chicago and its suburbs.

A North Shore native who grew up in Highland Park and Deerfield, Baer brings a particularly personal perspective to this year’s keynote:

“Why Kenilworth? How This Tiny Village Compares and Contrasts with Its North Shore Neighbors”

The presentation will explore what makes Kenilworth distinctive while placing the village within the larger story of Chicago’s North Shore communities.

Baer is currently producing an all-new WTTW special exploring Chicago’s northern suburbs, premiering December 8. Biennial Dinner guests will be treated to a special sneak preview of the new program during his keynote presentation.

The evening will run from 6:00 to 9:30 p.m. and will include drinks, dinner, and the keynote presentation. Tickets are $150 for members and $175 for non-members. Proceeds from the event support the Kenilworth Historical Society and its ongoing mission to collect, preserve, and share Kenilworth’s history.
