Kewanee City Council deadlocks on UTV restrictions, tables fireworks rules (kewaneevoice.com) — Kewanee’s City Council split on a proposal to ban certain high-powered UTVs from city streets, leaving current rules unchanged for now. Members also tabled a new fireworks-sales ordinance meant to clarify permits, safety requirements, and what retailers can legally sell, sending it back for more review.
   

2. Kewanee Police Arrest and Citation Report for 07-14-2026 (regionalmedianews.com) — Kewanee police responded to a wide range of calls between July 13 and 14, including loud noise complaints, 911 hang-ups, dog bites, welfare checks, disturbances, and a reported theft across several city neighborhoods. Most incidents were resolved or closed after officers and, in some cases, EMS checked on residents’ safety and concerns.
   

3. Pet of the week: Say hello to Wags (kewaneevoice.com) — A local shelter is looking for a Kewanee-area home for Wags, a 10‑month‑old pitbull mix who was abandoned but remains friendly, social, and healthy. Fully vetted and soon to be spayed, she’s great with other dogs, fine with cats, and eager for visitors during shelter hours. Adoption is $100, and residents can call 309‑852‑0040 to meet her.
   

4. Anna Marie Merrick (communitynewsmarket.com) — Kewanee readers are connected to the life of Anna Marie Merrick through her son, Jerry Merrick Jr. of Kewanee, among her surviving family. The 82‑year‑old Canton resident, remembered for her love of art, volunteering, and family, passed away July 1, with cremation rites accorded and burial planned at Camp Butler Cemetery in Springfield.
