• Mary Jean 'Mary' Mathews, 74, of Marseilles (1430wcmy.com) — Kewanee natives may remember Mary Jean “Mary” Mathews, who was born in Kewanee in 1951 and later built her life and career around restaurants and truck stops in the LaSalle-Peru area. The 74-year-old Marseilles resident died September 15, with memorial visitation and services set for Sunday, September 20 in Marseilles, and her brain donated to support Huntington’s disease research.
