• $150M Lake County Road Project To Include Railroad Underpass (patch.com) — A major $150 million road project is planned along Old McHenry Road through the Hawthorn Woods, Lake Zurich, and Kildeer area, aiming to ease congestion and improve safety for about 30,000 daily drivers. Starting in 2029, work will add a railroad underpass, upgrade key intersections, widen Quentin Road, and create new bike and pedestrian connections that Kildeer residents will use regularly. 
• 5-year-old poked by open syringe on bus on way to school in Buffalo Grove, faces rounds of blood tests (lakemchenryscanner.com) — A Lake Zurich kindergartner in Kildeer Countryside School District 96 is undergoing repeated blood tests after being poked by an open syringe he found on his school bus to Buffalo Grove. His parents are pressing Illinois Central School Bus for stronger safety measures, while the company says it is reviewing the incident and working with district leaders to prevent a repeat.
