16 Unlocked Vehicles Ransacked Overnight In La Grange: Police
16 unlocked vehicles were ransacked between Aug. 22 and 23.

LA GRANGE, IL — 16 vehicles were entered and ransacked over the past 24 hours in La Grange. According to a release from La Grange Police Department, in each instance, the vehicles were unlocked and parked on residential driveways. Police said the incidents took place in the 0-400 blocks as well as the 800 block of South Waiola, 300 block of South Spring, and the 500-700 blocks of South Stone.
Police said an attempt to steal at least one of the cars was made. Some items and money have been reported missing but it appears that the offenders are primarily attempting to locate keys to steal vehicles, according to the release.
The reported crimes are similar to those used in previous and recent thefts in nearby communities where the offenders sought unlocked vehicles to steal. According to the release, the LGPD continues to work closely with our regional partners to identify suspects.

According to the release, the La Grange Police Department would like to thank residents for their continued vigilance. They advise residents to:
- Keep all vehicle doors and windows closed and locked at all times.
- Close all windows and the sunroof and do not leave keys inside the vehicle.
- Engage the vehicle's alarm system if you have one.
- Remove visible items of value (wallet, purse, electronics, etc.) from the vehicle.
