According to the police report, Grant said he would make "Columbine look like a picnic" during an angry outburst with his school social worker present.
Grant is alleged to have repeated the threat in front of the assistant principal, police said.
In 1999, two students at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado, shot and killed 13 classmates. They pair then killed themselves.
The massacre inspired dozens of copycat shootings.
