The "physical altercation" occurred about 11:40 a.m., the school said in a news release. It provided no other details.

The school promised to work closely with the La Grange police.

"We understand that situations like this can cause concern, and we are following our established and standardized protocols to address the situation and support those involved," the school said in a statement. "The safety and well-being of our students remain our top priority."

Patch left messages with both the police and the school for more details on the incident.

In previous instances, La Grange police have been more secretive about juvenile incidents than departments in towns such as Western Springs and Darien.

In May 2023, a juvenile was arrested on charges of attempted first-degree murder and aggravated battery involving great bodily harm. It was in connection with a North Campus attack.

La Grange police did not give the age, gender or hometown of the person and did not say whether the person was a student at the school. They said they would not release any of that information because the suspect was a juvenile.
