ATI Physical Therapy: 'Patients are Our No. 1 Priority'
La Grange is home to the new ATI Physical Therapy, which opened last week in the old Borders Books building.
Clinic director Steve Hanley of the newly opened ATI Physical Therapy said he feels "incredibly lucky" to be in La Grange.
The clinic opened last week on the second floor of the old Borders Books building at the intersection of La Grange Road and Hillgrove Avenue, making it the third business to fill the empty space in La Grange Crossing.
Hanley, who previously worked at the ATI in Alsip, got his doctorate in physical therapy at Washington University in St. Louis. He said La Grange is a great place for ATI, especially with the area senior communities.

"We treat children through seniors. And you see it in that (senior) population that you can really make a big difference in their lives," Hanley said. "You could improve general strength conditioning so they could stay living independently."
Besides working with seniors, Hanley said he enjoys sports rehab. He recalled one patient who was a runner and had a hip flexor pain. She ran the Chicago Marathon the previous year, and after rehab at ATI she ran it again months later.

She wrote a note that she not only finished but did so 45 minutes faster than her previous time.
"We don't always see the results four or five months down the road, but it's nice to know you have an impact," Hanley said. "That's what I get out of it."
He said some patients still come by and their successful rehabilitation motivates other patients. He recalls a man who was in a wheelchair, and he got back to walking and still comes to the step-down program, which allows patients to continue coming to work out in a comfortable environment.
ATI Physical Therapy also offers free injury screenings and free transportation services for patients.
"This is a great place to work for," Hanley said. "They really care about the people they're treating and provide the highest quality of care. The patients are the No. 1 priority here."
ATI is located at 1 N. La Grange Road, Unit 2C in La Grange. It's open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturdays by appointment. Call 708-698-5680 for more information.
