BEDS 7th Annual Soup and Bread Fundraiser to Support Shelters

The Event Comes amid Rising Demand for Homeless Services

On Sunday, January 27th, from 3:00 – 7:00 PM at Holiday Inn William Tell Banquets in Countryside, BEDS Plus Care will host its seventh annual Soup & Bread fundraiser to support emergency overnight homeless shelters. BEDS’ shelters are seeing record levels of use, and funds raised will guarantee people experiencing homelessness have warm, safe places to stay the night and resources to regain housing.

“Our shelters are the first step in returning home,” says Tina Rounds, Executive Director of BEDS Plus Care, “We help clients find the best housing option, and, after they move in, we stand by their side to ensure they stay.” BEDS facilitates 15 rotating overnight shelters in partnership with Southwest Suburban churches. Last year, it provided a combined 13,516 nights of shelter, which were primarily staffed by volunteers.

Volunteer Coordinator Erin Molek stresses, “BEDS has always been a community organization. We were founded by a group of dedicated La Grange-area residents, and, compassionate volunteers and sites in surrounding communities have driven our growth.”
