Green with Envy

3 Steps simple steps to a green lawn!!

Don't be green with envy about your neighbors lawn, Spring is the best time to get a jump start. The warm days, we hope soon, and the cool nights of Spring are best for taking the right steps in getting a deep green lawn.  All you have to remember for a great lawn is weed, feed, and seed.

To Weed it, apply a pre-emergent in Spring to prevent new weeds from germinating and physically remove or apply topical application directly on any visible weeds during the season.  Turf grass and weeds fight for water and nutrients, weeds always win this battlle.

To Feed it, apply nutrient rich fertilizers at not only the right times, but most importantly in the right amount.  Turf grass can only get a limited supply of nutrients from seasonal weather and will deplete fertile ground quickly. Fertilizers, organic or synthetic when done properly and consistently, give turf grass the needed nutrients to continue to shine. When considering fertilizers read the packaging as every manufacturer is different.

To Seed it, apply new grass seed often.  The growth of your trees, shrubs and even perennials constantly change the micro climate in your garden. Review your garden for sunny and shady areas and over seed with the appropriate turf species.  Always best to top dress the newly laid seed with a little organic compost.

Following the simple rules of weed, feed and seed, your lawn will soon become the envy of the neighborhood.
